refactor(install.sh): major code cleanup
fix #12503 This major code cleanup addresses all the shellcheck warnings. Fixes some logic bugs Make the installer script fully POSIX-shell compliant Replaces many usages of sub-shell string processing where standard variable expansion is capable of the same transofmations.
